Airborne Pollution
Control & Icon Construction Sign
Partnership Agreement
(CALGARY, CANADA
- March 3rd, 2003) Airborne Pollution
Control Inc. (Airborne), a clean-energy
technology company, has entered into
a partnership agreement with Icon,
Inc. (Icon), an Engineering, Procurement
and Construction management company.
Airborne Pollution
Control and Icon have entered into
an agreement whereby Icon will assume
Engineering, Procurement and Construction
responsibility for the fertilizer
plant portion of Airborne's patented
multi-pollutant control process (the
"Airborne Process") complimenting
the current team of The Babcock &
Wilcox Company and US Filter's HPD
Systems.
The patented Airborne
Process employs a sodium bicarbonate
scrubbing solution for combined NOx,
SOx, Mercury and particulate emissions
reduction. The sodium based scrubbing
is used in conjunction with Airborne's
innovative process for the regeneration
of the sodium bicarbonate reagent
and the production of a high grade
fertilizer byproduct. The fertilizer
byproduct is granulated using Airborne's
patented technology to produce a profitable
fertilizer that will be marketed by
the Potash Corporation of Saskatchewan
Inc.
With global experience
and base operations in Dayton, Ohio,
Icon has a vast amount of engineering
and design experience with pan granulation,
agglomeration and material handling;
key components for the fertilizer
portion of Airborne's process. Icon's
President Naren Patel said "even
with 40 years of experience, we were
thoroughly impressed with Airborne's
unique thin film pan granulation process
and we look forward to being part
of the Airborne team".
According to Wayne
Thomson, Airborne's President, the
partnership benefits both companies.
"We are excited to be working
closely with Icon to commercialize
our technology in North America and
abroad".
Airborne Pollution Control Inc.
is a Calgary, Canada based Private
Corporation that has developed and
has exclusive rights to patents throughout
the world for an advanced pollution
control process (the Airborne Process)
for utilities that generate electrical
power from coal-fired power plants.
With over 50% of North America's and
over 33% of the world's electrical
power generated from coal, the Airborne
Process addresses a global concern
by removing acid rain causing sulphur
dioxide (SO2) and sulphur trioxide
(SO3), smog producing nitrogen oxide
(NOx) and mercury from plant emissions.
The scrubbing agent used to remove
the pollutants is sodium bicarbonate.
Unlike other scrubbing procedures,
the sodium bicarbonate is regenerated
in the process reducing operating
costs, increasing efficiencies, reducing
waste and most notably, the Airborne
Process turns the sulphur and nitrogen
pollutants into a high-quality granular
fertilizer. The Airborne Process allows
the benefits of coal to be maximized
in an economical and environmentally
responsible manner.
Icon, Inc.
is a private corporation that specializes
